Russian sources about the battle on Lake Peipsi on April 5, 1242 even more briefly than on the battle on the Neva. But we have the Elder Livonian Rhymed Chronicle (created in the last decade of the 13th century). The descriptions presented in these texts paint quite clearly the general (strategic) picture of the battle, but the more confusing are the various details of the tactical plan, which have to be reconstructed in detail.
