Velye
The first mention in the chronocle under 1368 in connection with the attack of the Livonian Order. Velye was a fortress on the western borders of the Pskov land, a "Pskov suburb", repeatedly repelled enemy attacks (Livonians and Lithuanians), the largest - in 1408, 1409, 1426.The Old Livonian Road located near the fortress.
In 1565, during the Russian-Lithuanian war, a battle took place near Velye. In 1581, the fortress was destroyed by the garrison itself due to the impossibility of defending it in front of the advancing troops of Stephen Batory. Today an earthen settlement with ramparts has survived.
