Muhu, Saaremaa

58° 36′ 14″ N, 23° 13′ 34″ E

Church of st. Catherine of Alexandria was founded in the 1230s as a wooden temple. The stone church was built towards the end of the 13th century. Initially it was a fortified fortress, a fortress-castle. The architecture of the temple was changed by late restructuring, the need for which was caused by the fire in 1640, destruction during the Northern War. The church is located in the village of Liiva today.
