In ancient times the hillfort was called Kakhutsi or Iruste. The fate of Iruste during the years of the crusaders' campaigns is unknown to us, the chronicles do not give any details. After the arrival of the German Order a Crusader fortification was erected not far from it in 1230. Hillfort is located in the village of Kahutsi today.
