Estonian settlement of 9th-13th centuries. Presumably, the Keava settlement under the name Kedepiv (Kedempe) appears in the chronicles after the death of the ancient Russian prince Yaroslav the Wise, when his son Izyaslav tried to regain control over the Baltic possessions of Yaroslav (the center of which was Yuriev, the future Derpt / Tartu, founded in 1030). Around 1059-1061 Izyaslav attacked Kedepiv as the center of Estonian resistance.
The hillfort was destroyed about 1224, when the knights of the order of the sword-bearers conquered these lands. Estonians simply left it because of the threat of the invasion of the crusaders. Today the hillfort is located in a forest near the village of Linnaluste (Maakond Rapla, Kehtna Vald).
