Tolsburg (Tolchbor)
Tolsburg was an order castle on the bank of the Baltic Sea, built in 1471-1473. and was originally called Fredeburg ("Peace Castle"). In the summer of 1558 it was taken by the Russian army, apparently without a fight: the order vogt Ginrik von Kallenbach simply abandoned him and left with the garrison. The Russians renamed the castle Belgorod. They owned it until 1581, despite repeated attempts by the Swedes to take the fortress. In March 1581, the castle was attacked by the Swedes and surrendered without much resistance.
