Usvyat, anсient stronghold

First mention in the chronicles was in 1021. Prince Yaroslav the Wise gave to Prince Briachislav of Polotzk fortress "Vsviach". In 1225 and 1245 there were battles between Russian and Lithuanian troops. of In 1320 became the stronghold of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It was the inheritance of the daughter of the Prince of Vitebsk. Her husband was Olgerd, the Grand Prince of Luthuania.
